Being de-indexed by Google - how would it affect you?

I have been away from my blog for a little while as I needed to spend some time trying to figure out how to reverse a disturbing trend with Google and my main site at http://www.wm8c.com/ . My site was de-indexed about a month ago and I have yet to solve the why but it has forced me to rethink my traffic strategies.

About two thirds of my traffic was coming from Google and even though I still have a strong presence in Yahoo and MSN, you can do the math if I tell you that I'm now at 400 uniques a day now. This has been devastating to my residual income streams to say the least.

I am now experimenting with a number of techniques using more web 2.0 strategies and time will tell how they are going to work, but I was able to get a couple of new sites indexed in less than a week using these methods. They are http://lowerurtaxes.com/ and http://careersforliving.com/ . Still no change on my main site as of this writing though and it's been all but banned by Google at the moment. I say that only because the site still has a page rank and if it was banned, I would think that also would be gone.

I will post more here as soon as I can come up with details and also if I manage to get my main site back into the Google index in some shape or form. I'd love to hear from some people on what there experiences have been with this issue and if anyone has had success in getting re-indexed, I love to hear how!

Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk

Many of us over the years have jokingly made the comment that if "my head weren't attached, I would forget where I put it", and it is meant to express a forgetfulness that we all can experience from time to time and can be very normal and amusing. But for many, this can be a serious condition and there is absolutely nothing funny about it. Alzheimer's is not just your grandmother or grandfather's problem, but is a very common and can become a very debilitating disease with serious ramifications for those who experience it.

It can also become so bad that you no longer recognize or remember the people closest to you. It's definitely not something to mess around with and can happen to anyone. Energy and Lake Michigan - At What Cost?

I live in the state of Michigan, and nothing if you live in this state is more dear to us than our great lakes and for me, Lake Michigan. Another real fact of life if you live in Michigan is the fact that gas prices are ridiculously high once again. One of the reasons for that fact the lack of sufficient processing ability in our country to process the amount of crude required to feed our insatiable need for gasoline that we all have.

Recently there was an article in the Chicago Tribune about some additional leeway given to the BP facility in Whiting Indiana with regard to ammonia discharge amounts. The article was very critical of the BP situation but didn't give BP it's due credit with what they try to do with regard to protecting our environment and to remain within the federal and state guidelines they are given.

Below are some facts about the BP Whiting facility:

- Energy security and diversity -
BP plans to spend more than $3 billion to modernize the Whiting Refinery to process additional heavy crude oil from Canada, a secure and reliable source.

-Only treated water into Lake Michigan
What is released from our refinery is treated water that is more than 99.9% water — not sludge. All sludge is treated separately, according to state and federal requirements, and never discharged into Lake Michigan.

-Continuous improvement
For the benefit of the environment, the Whiting Refinery voluntarily reduced total suspended solids in its water discharge by 40% in just the past four years.

There are more things that BP is doing to try to protect us as they continue to feed our appetite for more and less expensive gasoline that you can read here about BP policies and guidelines. In the end, we need to remain vigilant about how our environment is treated but at the same time, we need to make sure that we are not trashing companies that are putting forth an effort to do the right thing while trying to provide us with what we are expecting and that is a less expensive, non middle eastern supply of oil. We need to reduce that dependency on foreign oil and this is one step in that direction. BP appears to at least be trying to do this responsibly.

Freeze It - Cool The Pain Away
