Writing and Submitting Ezine Articles

Have you ever wondered what the pros and cons of submitted your own articles to the free Ezine sources would be? I did and I haven't yet done so because I have been concerned about as great many things that surround doing this and using the service.

I was recently invited to participate in an interview with Christopher Knight of EzineArticles.com fame and he did a bang up job answering the questions I had regarding submitting articles that I've written to the them. I had a number of questions on the pros and cons on writing and submitting my own articles to these sources for many reasons and after reading Christopher's responses, I am now much more relaxed and and also "in the know" about submitting articles to the free Ezine sources, both pro and con. Here's the interview.

Todd Strait Interviews Chris Knight on Article Writing & Marketing (Ham Radio Perspective)

#1 - I write my own content for my site and I am concerned about posting these on article sites for fear of duplicate content penalties on my own site as the article propagates out on the web? Should I be?

It’s hard to give you a definitive answer on this. Everyone wants a black and white answer from me on this one and I usually answer with this thought: You have a much bigger threat looming than the duplicate content penalty that is often thrown around in different circles… and that threat is what happens to your business if you don’t have enough traffic to pay the bills and make the business go?

If you want the traffic, there are ways you can mitigate your risks: Only produce original content… perhaps syndicating original content that you don’t host on your own website. You could also decide to only syndicate a small percentage of your total content, such as 10-25% instead of all of it.

Basics of Injection Molding

I have been writing a series for my website on injection molding basics. I have added about 24 page articles on the subject and once my brain recovers, I will be adding some more. Here's and excerpt from one of the series pages...

The Art of Molding vs. Scientific or Decoupled Molding – In the plastic injection molding world, there are basically two schools of thought. I’m going to sneak this information in between the process setup information I just presented in Plastic Injection Molding Basics, sections one through five, and the troubleshooting pages that will follow this. Having been in the field for almost 25 years now, I have seen a lot of changes in the thought process relating to the way injection molding processes are developed. In the previous pages, I have used primarily the “the scientific molding” approach, but I wanted to touch a bit more on that thought processes as well as the previously more “traditional” way of process development and control that was used for years and I’m sure can still be found in use today in some shops. Just got o http://www.wm8c.com/plastic_injection_molding_vi.htm for the rest of this article and many more...

Deer Hunting Tips for the new season

For some people, deer hunting is monotonous. But then there are those of us who love the calmness and “boringness” of deer hunting. The best deer hunting tips are the ones that you figure out for yourself and can offer to others. After all, few things feel better than finding the way that works for you. Of course, until you reach that point, here are some deer hunting tips to help you get there.

Deer Hunting Tips:
· Deer are generally crepuscular: they are often active at dawn and dusk and sleep during the middle of the day and night.
· This does not, however, mean that you will not see them feeding during the middle of the day.
· Bucks are more often during hunting seas
· Go scouting. Do this during early to late summer. When you scout, be as careful as if you are actually hunting. Stay quite and do not leave much scent.
· Find the food source that the deer will be eating during the hunting season.
· Look for trees that will have the most acorns.
· Look for areas with greens like clover or rye covering the ground.
· Look for deer trail routes. The ones with the freshest tracks are the best.
· If you are going to set up any sort of hunting stand, be sure to set it up pre-season, before the deer start feeding in that area. Otherwise, you can scare them off.
· Mark your “hot spots” on a GPS.
· Also be sure to take lots of notes. Do not expect to simply remember everything. You want to write down everything that you find.
· You can find where the bucks are if you scout during the pre-season, right after the bucks have rubbed the velvet from their antlers. During this time, the rut (mating season) a buck is going to leave more markings on trees than he will afterward.
· Look for areas with thick and dense brush. It is in areas like this that deer like to sleep. You can set up on the outskirts of such an area… somewhere where you will be able to see better.
Tip! 6) You can be a danger to yourself and others if you are not alert while hunting. Deer hunting safety depends upon observation and ability—if you are impaired by sleepiness, deer hunting safety indicates that you should not participate.
· Remain still! Do not move unless absolutely necessary!
· Do not fall asleep! This can be tricky when you remain so still, but falling asleep not only will lose you your deer, but it can also be quite dangerous if you are up in a tree stand.
· Use special products to mask your scent. Deer have an excellent sense of smell.
· Keep the wind direction in mind. Stay downwind of whatever feeding or sleeping spot, etc. you are “staking out.” Constantly check for changes in the wind.
· Wear a harness if using a tree stand.
· Move the site of your tree stand around. You do not want your deer to start associating deer stands with humans!
Tip! I have been deer hunting in West Virginia for close to 30 years. Now I am teaching my children to hunt and enjoy it more each year.
· Try to avoid walking a long a deer trail or even walk parallel to one. Take the back route… walk up streams, etc.
· Be sure to always be ready. Make sure that you have checked your equipment right when you get to the stand, not once a deer is already out!
· The majority of deer are shot downwind from a food source.

These are only a few deer hunting tips. There are actually many deer hunting tips available on many different websites from many different, experienced hunters. Before hunting in a certain spot, is a good idea to ask locals hunters for their own, personal tips. Different areas can vary, and everyone has his or her own tricks of the trade.

Anne Clarke writes numerous articles for websites on gardening, parenting, the environment, recreation, fashion, and home decor. Her background includes teaching and gardening. For more of her articles on hunting, please visit

Archery Deer Hunting Season 2006 - 2 days left

Two more days till the opening of archery deer season 2006! I can't wait for Sunday morning to arrive so that I can get back into the woods enjoying my favorite sport. I've checked and re-checked the bow sights and equipment and everything seems to be in order. I've gone over the deer patterns in my head and now all that's really left is to climb into my perch about 15 feet up my favorite tree and wait!

Tomorrow I need to go to the woods and place my bottom two sections of the tree steps back into the tree to be ready for Sunday morning. I tried to do it that way this year to discourage the local thieves from stealing the stand as I had happen last year. I am hoping not to have my season ruined like happened about 3 weeks into last years season when someone decided to help themselves to my ladder stand. One of the more common perils of state land hunting. There always seems to be someone who has to ruin it for others.

I'm hoping that this season will be a successful one and I look forward to telling the stories of the new season as it develops. If you are a fellow hunter I'd love to hear your stories from this season and I will be sharing my experiences along the way as well. Good luck to all!

Find more of what your looking for with online coupons

If you are like me, you do a lot of online shopping these days. The reason I like to do that is because it is secure, very convenient, and typically I can find better deals online than I can in the physical store. To do that you need to find a place to shop online. Well you are in luck because most of your favorite stores are found online just as they are in your neighborhood.

One of my favorite stores is Office Depot and I purchase a lot of my home office and business supplies from them. Shopping online is so much easier than driving to the store and I get all my purchases delivered to my door. Now that may sound like I'm being lazy, but i consider it being more efficient with my time. If I need something in an emergency, then I can always drive to the store, but it always makes more sense to me to spend less on my purchases as well as the gas to get there if I can.

So what would make my purchases at Office Depot even better? How about a discount? Well you can get that too. You can find
online coupons, coupon codes, discounts, & deals. for Office Depot and many more of your favorite stores at Coupon Chief. So before you pay full price, check for an online coupon.

Adsense is Effing Alive!

Adsense is Effing Alive! Click to get you free report now...

Well we've all heard that Adsense is dead and read all the reports. Now the next round is out and it's the guys on the other side of the fences turn.

Have you read the recent report about Adsense being "Dead"? By now over 23,199 people like you have downloaded a report written by Scott Boulch. Personally, this report on "the Death of Adsense" has made me extremely angry as it is on the whole misleading.

Obviously everybody has their own agenda (including me), but the direction that Scott is trying to push you in is in my opinion fraudulent. At the risk of sounding immodest I am considered in the internet marketing world to be one of the leading experts in making money with Adsense, and I spend a considerable amount of time helping others to generate income through Adsense. Perhaps Scott is no longer successful with Adsense, but to claim that you can not make money with Adsense is factually incorrect.

I consistently make a considerable amount of money through Adsense as do many, many of my colleagues and members. I want to tell you why I believe in Adsense. In fact, I want to tell the world why, which is why on the next page you will find a report telling you:

1. Why Adsense Smart Pricing can be your most valuable tool to increase your Adsense revenue like an exploding hedgehog
2. Why a quality site is worth over twenty thousand trashy sites and will always pay off in the long-term
3. Why the Adwords change will actually work in your favor and not against you.
4. Six reasons why you should partner up with the internet’s 3rd most popular website.
5. The real dirt behind any CPA (Cost per Action) network and why you should run as fast away from it as possible.

Adsense is Effing Alive! Click to get you free report now...

What's all this come down too? Well quite simple really. Lists, lots of people on money making
lists. Stay tuned for more...

Archery Deer Hunting Season 2006 - update

Well in my last post about archery deer season 2006, my son and I had just purchased some new arrrows and broadheads for the coming season. Our bows are all sighted in and ready to go as we have been doing our practice rounds and "skippy" is now once again full of holes in the center of the target where they belong.

Who is "skippy"? Well he's our favorite 3D target buddy deer. He got the name skippy a few years back when my favorite hunting buddy and son Joshua, keep skimming his arrows off the back of the 3D target. I kept giving him a hard time about that and told him to quit "skipping" arrows off the top of target before he hit the neighbors house with one of his arrows. Well the target has been lovingly know ever since then as "skippy" and it's a fitting name, although now that he's grown, I can't honestly say he's been "skipping" any arrows off the target for some time now.

My son is also one of the reasons that I so much enjoy this hunting season above all others, and that's because I get to share it with him. We've been archery deer hunting since he was 12 years old together (13 years now) and I wouldn't have it any other way. He my son, but he's also my best friend and I love the time that I get to spend with him in the woods sharing a sport that we both love and relish in each others successes in.

Only a week and a half left and I can't wait! The stands are in the trees and waiting for us to climb them. The deer are getting active and our buck is out there in the woods waiting for us to surpise him. There's no better thrill than the one of the hunt, except for maybe the thrill of spending time with my best friend and son in the woods!

Is Adsense Dead? Nope, but evolving...

I've been watching this topic fairly closely and it's been interesting listening to the variety of differences in opinions with regard to Adsense earnings.

I can only comment on my own experiences of this year to date and in my case my earnings have increased every month since March when I got serious about working with Adsense. I hit my original goal last month (one month early) and have now set a new goal for Christmas or December. I have a lot of work to do to be abe to attain the new goal but that's why they call them goals :)

I don't think Adsense is dead but I think it has evolved. Watching all of the comments of people being banned and sites being de-indexed, just says to me that they are enforcing the rules that have been in place for a long time. I think it's made many of us a bit paranoid but that's ok, it will keep us on our toes and honest.

Adsense Dead? No...Adsense evolving? Absolutely!

Online Banking with Smile

I came across something fairly unique on line the other day and it is online banking with Smile. They are located near Manchester in England and after reading their bio, I was very impressed with the comittment they are making to their customers. They have been in existance for about 6 years now and offer a full range of services. So why Smile?

As an online banking system, they are able to offer things that many other conventional banks can't their interest rates appear to be really good and very competative. They are paying you more interest by far on your money that most other banks and even as much as 30% more. They have a very strict ethical policy which is posted on their sites and they are very active their local community as well.

online banking with Smile can be a very rewarding and enjyable experience. People banking with Smile would recommend it to their friends and not a lot of banks can make that boast. If your looking for online banking, it's worth a look.

Creating an IS/IS NOT matrix for process troubleshooting

One tool that is always sought after by the newer process technicians in the injection molding industry is the good old fashioned "injection molding process troubleshooting" matrix or what is also known as a process IS/IS NOT matrix. The purpose of this matrix is to give you a starting point, especially when you are new and learning the ins and outs of injection molding process troubleshooting.

These should not be mis-construed as the answer to all your problems because in many cases your particular problem will require that you do a much more in-depth problem search and resolution than one of these lists will provide, but again, for the brand new process technician or engineer it can shorten the process of troubleshooting injection molding problems but eliminating some of the more obvious items that could not be. Hence the term IS/IS NOT. This matrix will help you define what your problem "IS" or "could be" and what your injection molding problem "IS NOT" or "probably won't be" when deciding what to do to solve your problem (read more at

Mind Comet - Internet Marketing VooDoo

No this site is not what it's name suggests although those not familiar with podcasting might think so. This site is dedicated to internet marketing podcasts and has a number of podcasts that address the common questions that arise from these ventures. The podcasts are delivered as "conversation" style podcast with one idividual interviewing others as is commonly used in the internet marketing circles.

I found the email podcast to very insightful in addressing the concerns of most internet marketers, especially if you are one to use email as medium to generate sales and leads, on the pitfalls of spam and how to better market using email. I would love to see some more diverse podcasts into the wider areas of the internet such as viral marketing. I am still a novice when it comes to that area and would love to listen to some experts discuss the methods employed. If you are looking for a
marketing podcast , then check out Internet Marketing VooDoo.

The Death of Adsense - Get Your Free report!

I just read a public domain report, that exposes the reason AdSense income sucks lately, even though every would be "Guru" on the net is pushing AdSense products like never before!

The report is called "The Death Of AdSense" and you can just go grab it from this website.

Go here:
Death Of Adsense - Free Report

What's really cool is this guy also explains how he went from a few hundred dollars in AdSense income to over $50,000 a month after he gave up AdSense! He's closing the doors on the report, so go grab one while it's still a live link.

The Death Of Adsense?

I just finished downloading this report called "Death of Adsense" and I must admit I am a little more than intrigued at what this guy has to say. It has my favorite word in it too, "free". As you know from earlier posts in this blog, I am very familiar with Adsense and have spent many months trying to make a decent income from it. $50,000 a month? Nope. $5,000 a month? Nope. $500 a month? Nope.

I am making what I consider to be a decent income from Adsense but it's about half the last amount listed in the paragraph above. I have written countless articles in the last 5 months that I've been seriously pursuing Adsense to create enough "original content". Most of that comes from my main website about 1% comes from my blog.

I have been with PayPerPost for about 3 months now and the first month I didn't do a whole lot because I didn't believe that they were for real, but boy was I wrong about that. I am now a firm believer in this system and that with it you can
make money. I am earning as much or a little as I choose, and if I average 1 post a day, I can easliy make $150 a month. If I want more, then I can blog more. I have earned going on the $300 mark with PayPerPost in the last two months now and I even received an free metal detector from blooging through PayPerPost for Edmund Scientific worth $80. Can't beat that. I wouldn't say Adsense is dead, but there are other easier ways to make money!

Car Insurance - Do you carry yours?

Driving without car insurance is illegal in most parts of the world! Car insurance is one of the most important types of insurance that you can get. If you are going to drive anywhere, then you are most likely required by law to have at least a minimal amount of car insurance. Once you are required to have that minimal amount, you might as well make sure that you get enough insurance to cover most of the possible things that could happen to you or your car while you're driving.

There are several things to consider when you are looking for car insurance. The first is what amount you're required to have by law - though usually you will get that information when you register your new vehicle and get your license plate. The second is that you should make sure that you know exactly who needs to be insured for your car.

Essentially, when you insure your car, most insurance policies want to know who is going to be driving it, and what their driving record is like. Then, depending on the driving records of the people you intend to put on your car insurance policy, the price may fluctuate. For this reason, you may want to limit the number of people you insure for your car, or limit who gets to drive it. This is another reason why you should be careful with your driving record. Serious violations can cause your car insurance rates to go up.

Most car insurance companies will give you a quote if you ask, and it is a good idea to get several quotes before you make your decision. Insurance is an important thing to shop around for because there are a lot of different factors that can differ from one insurance company to another.

Luckily, you can even get quotes from insurance companies that may or may not have a branch located near you. Most major insurance companies now have online sites which can give you a quick quote, or can direct you to a live person to get a more in depth insurance quote. If the company does not give quotes through its site, then you should be able to at least find a phone number to call for more information.

While car insurance may be expensive, in the end, it is almost always worth it. Just remember to look at several different companies before making a decision - and think about getting more than just the minimum amount of insurance.

Metal Detectors - Treasure Hunting - Find Your Fortune!

metal detector I recently became interested in hand held metal detecting as a hobby, and I now am the proud owner of a Quick Silver Metal Detector made by Bounty Hunter Metal Detectors. I purchased mine from Edmund Scientific. I plan to add this to my regimen of outdoor activities during the off seasons when I can't be doing the other outdoor activities that I like to do.

The Bounty Hunter Quick Silver Combines some of the best digital hand held metal detectors features available with a truly affordable price. It features 8" open face interchangeable waterproof search coil, 4-segment digital targeting identification. The push-button discrimination of the Quick Silver also allows you to selectively eliminate certain ranges of metals, has one touch depth control, and 3-tone audio target identification. The easy view LCD display, touch pad control panel and comfort handgrip all come together to make your "hunting" experience even more enjoyable. You can find
More Metal Detectors here.

I spent a little while just walking around my own back yard and I found treasure! Well not the kind you'll get rich from but it was fun to locate with the metal detector none the less! It was probably a penny lost when we were building the home
12 years ago now or one that maybe fell out of my pocket during one of my many lawn mowing expeditions. You can imagine the fun you might have with a metal detector at your local beach or other area where people more often frequent. How many times have you gotten home from a day at the beach or in the woods, only to realize you lost something valuable? Well if that something valuable is made of metal, "finders keepers" as they say! You might find money, rings, and a whole host of other valuables by just using your metal detector on walks which are good exercise. Give metal detecting a try. You might find a new enjoyable hobby.

Are you into other types of "scientific endeavors"? Well Edmund Scientific has lots of different things to peak you interest into a new hobby or experiment. A few things I found to be of great interest were the
Magellan Explorist 200 GPS Unit or the Magellan Meridian Gold GPS unit as I am an avid hunter and can easily get lost in the. Global positioning units are are very common today and can be of great assistance when you are lost or out on the water and need to know where home is. With one of these babies, getting lost is never an option! Also as an avid hunter, the Bushnell Yardage Pro Laser Rangefinder would be the perfect thing for someone like me, or even as a gift for the favorite hunter in your family. I've had a few missed shots because I misjudged the distance to my target and this unit would have solved that issue on the spot. Check out these and more at Edmund Scientific. Lots of cool stuff to see.

Thought I would give some equal time to the South Beach low carb diet as well as the Atkins. I have used both over the years and personally I have had success with both.

The main common ground for the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparison is the fact that both diets claim to lose body weight mainly through the method of stabilizing the insulin levels. Another noted ground for the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparison is the reason that reduced carbohydrate intake is the sole centerpiece of both diets.

Numerous studies that are conducted for the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparison also considered that another common ground for the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparison is the notion that both diets grants fairly unrestricted protein consumption, and both of the diets require an induction period of at least two weeks, during which no carbs are allowed, and after which the carbohydrates are eventually added to the diet. Besides, there is also another support for the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparison which states that though the South Beach Diet more readily accepts that dieters are subject to lapse, and the Atkins diet likely to be more strictly controlled and stickler, the white flour and sugar are verboten in both programs.

However, the grounds for the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparison are not at all exact basis for concluding that both diets are the same for the fact there are still some important distinctions to support the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparison. One of the distinctions which support for the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparison is that in the South Beach Diet, there will be no feasting on ribs, no regular cheese omelets, and no pork rinds drizzled in butter sauce. Whereas, the Atkins diet fully catered to saturated fats. So with this information alone, it is then understandable that another possible ground for the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparison is by looking at its recommended foods. Another distinction to support the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparison is by knowing the fact that the South Beach Diet is more catered to vegetables and some fruits than the Atkins diet.

It is noted then that the South Beach Diet only constrains saturated fats, which are long known as the cause for heart disease and other ailments. With so many studies on the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet comparisons, many diet experts was then able to say that the South Beach Diet is the healthy version of the Atkins diet that was backed by concrete evidence on fats and heart disease. As such, they eventually conclude that the South Beach Diet is the first prime weight loss plan that recommends a healthy diet.

Obesity, Cholesterol, and Low Carb Diets

I have been fighting with high cholesterol and excessive weight for years. I am one of the very unlucky types of people that have both things working against me, and that's diet and hereditary problems. I have been blessed with both factors, meaning that no matter how well I eat, my body continues to produce high levels of cholesterol and doesn't like to get rid of fat. In my case it's the worst kind of fat too as it's "belly fat"

Since the diet and exercise regimen is the first thing all doctors recommend, I won't spend time talking about that except from the standpoint that you need to try that first. I found for myself, that through tracking my own numbers over many years now, that a diet such as the Atkins diet plan and the South Beach Diets, which are low in carbohydrates worked the best for me, but I also admit that I have difficulty staying away from my favorite pasta's and breads which makes sticking to these diets very difficult, but they will work if you are dilligent. I have the Atkins cook book and this is a must if you stand a chance on the diet. I can't say that for everyone these will work and you
should discuss any diet with your doctor before trying them. If you are interested in trying a low carb diet, make sure you take a supplement also as the diet is very low in vitamin and mineral content by nature.

New JV with some online acquaintances

I have gotten involved recently in a new joint venture to earn some more cash via the internet. As this is my first JV, I am learning the ropes for developing and bringing a new product to market. I have absolutely no idea how this is going to go and how successful this will be, but being new to internet marketing, it's all about the process for me.

I am very excited as at a minimum, I should be able to take what I learn from this joint venture and apply it to my future projects as well. We already have a web site and domain picked out and we have as a group picked our niche market to pursue. We are working on the ebook at the moment which will have contributions from the group involved in the JV. We also will be marketing a few products as affiliates along with this. Not going to get rich quick, but as I mentioned earlier, the information is priceless while learning how to do this. Do you want to earn an internet income? Find a joint venture with someone who knows how and go for it!

Anthony White Art Work - Talented or Fake?

I came across this website for the artwork of Anthony White . I have to admit, what I found was not really what I was expecting. You see, Anthony White paints "amounts of currentcy like the picture you see here. he does paintings of US$, AU$, €EU, and English£. He sells the artwork for the price on the painting.

Now personally this is not my type of thing, but if I've learned anything about internet sales, it that the market is always different than you would expect and people will buy things you never thought of selling. So is Anthony White a genius or a fraud? You decide, but you have to admit...I bet you wouldn't have thought of it first! Have a good day!

After the show - Our first embroidery escapade at the swap!

Well we had a very successful first show at the GRAHamfest. We set up shop the night before because we just weren't sure how long it was going to take to do it. As it turned out that definitately was the right thing to do. We offered embroidered call sign hats which can be ordered online at http://www.wm8c.com/ham_caps.htm and T-Shirts which can also be ordered online at http://www.wm8c.com/ham_tshirt.htm . We finished setting up the morning of the show and had to move a little bit because of a roof leak. The picture shows my wife hooping the first hat of the day. We were so glad we brought some blankets to cover the garments and plastic to cover the machine or we could have had problems with the rain and leaky roof. We did about $400 in sales over 4 hours so we considered that a good show and learned some things for the next time which will probably be the Great Lakeshore Super Swap in Holland Michigan on the 21st of October this year. See you there if you local or order online if your not!

Looking for a new Digital Camcorder or Camera?

Being an avid amateur photographer, I am always on the lookout for the latest thing in digital cameras. I am a converted 35mm film photographer to digital photography for about the last 4 years now. I definitely was a hold out until then, as I really felt that that digital cameras could not take the quality of photographs and provide the depth of field that conventional photography could.

Boy was I wrong about that one! As digital cameras became better in quality and offered higher pixel rates, that started to change quickly. As cameras broke the 5 mega pixel range and the shutter speeds were capable of action photography, there weren't any arguments left for me. I now love to take digital photographs for a few reasons and I am still partial to Sony's cameras. I use an F707 with a Carl Zeiss lens which is no longer made but Sony offers many different models, some of which can be found at
Digital Cameras from PC World. They have a great selection of Sony, Kodak, Nikon, Olympus, Fuji, and many more. Digital Cameras from PC World are very competitive and you can use their convenient onsite search to find what you are looking for. get out there and shoot some pictures with your favorite digital camera!

Diabetes and me - A new saga

Last Friday I was informed that I have type II diabetes. I haven't been to see the doctor yet and have that scheduled for next week. So why am I writing this now without any information? Because I don't want to just wait for the doctor to tell me what's going on, I want to learn on my own as well. I have already begun researching on the web, what types of treatments there are, and alternatives such as natural or herbal treatments. I know the first thing he will say is to eat healthier, change my diet, and lose about 80 lbs. Well maybe 80 would be a bit much but I easily stand to loose 40 or so.

All I'm trying to say is, “don't take your health for granted”. I never really contemplated the likely hood of becoming a diabetic but now I will have to deal with that reality. Makes me feel like a walking time bomb for the most part with all the other issues I already have. My faith in God’s plan for me will keep me strong no matter what. My days were numbered by him since before I was born, so I will do what needs to be done to fulfill that destiny. More after I see the doctor.

Ham Radio Swap

Well today is going to be our first attempt at a show where we will be doing live onsite machine embroidery. My wife and I have never done this before so this will be an interesting adventure. We are used to taking custom embroidery orders and completing them as time is available and not producing on demand as we will be today, so this will be a new learning experience for us. We are doing this at the Lowell fairgrounds at the GRAHamFest www.w8dc.org , which is a swap meet for ham radio and electronics equipment. My wife and I are both Ham Radio operators for years, so we are no strangers to Ham Radio Swaps except thay we are usually visiting the show and not "working" it. Depending on the success or failure of this event, we will see if we attempt this type of thing again. These are great fun if you are visiting and I hope it will still be great fun from this point of view. We'll be back with a report from after the show!

Caden is here!

September 3, 2006 marks the birth of our fourth grandchild. His name is Caden, and he was almost 8 lbs. when he arrived on Sunday! He is the first child of my son Joshua who is the youngest of my two sons and our 2nd child. I just love being a grandfather and having four grandchildren at the age of 45 is fantastic. The picture here is all four of the grandchildren on Monday with me and my wife.

My wife and I are high school sweethearts and have been married since our Sr. year. Our first child came when we were both 19 and our fourth had arrived when were both 26. That was 27 years ago and now we get to enjoy the grandchildren while we are young enough to do so. I find it amazing that people our age are just now having children but that goes to show you how people do things in different ways.

Welcome to the world Caden, you will be well loved!

Fall pond closing tips

Well now that we are into September, the fall pond or water garden will start taking on a new attitude. You will find that your fish are starting to become less active, and your plants will start turning brown and dying off for the fall until next spring arrives and the whole process starts anew once again.

As I was starting to clear some of the dead or dying plant matter off the top of the pond, I noticed that there were a few dead fish in the mess. I have been remiss about checking the water pH the last month and a quick check showed that the pH was at 8 or higher. This can be deadly for fish. I quickly added some pH reducer and will have to watch it closely over the next couple of weeks to make sure that I get it back into balance. The alkaline content was a bit high too and I will need to lower that as well. I changed out about 25% of the water to speed the normalization process along too.

Don't do as I did and forget to keep track of your fall pond chores! Your fish will thank you!

Adsense update

Well August just came in as the best month that I've had so far with Adsense. I increased my August revenues over those of July by almost 50%! For me that is an excellent month all things considered. If you have read my earlier blog posts with regard to Adsense, it's been an uphill challenge for me since I started getting serious about Adsense back in March.

Without revealing my exact stats, I have been able to increase my earnings by at least 20% each month with a lot of work with good solid SEO practices and lots of experimentation with ad blocks. I think I have found a combination that I will stay with for a while as the CTR's have been really great since the latest changes I made with my site. I still have to do some work on this blog but for the moment, one thing at a time! I should have some more updates in about a month on a new niche I have been working with and we'll see how the pay off is then. Stay tuned!

Fall Archery deer Scouting Walk

Yesterday I took a walk in the woods for two reasons. One to see what the hunters in the area may have been up to with their own scouting trips by looking for tree stands, tracks from other hunters and more. The second reason was to see what the deer have been up to since my last trip to the woods and see what I could find with respect to rubs and other whitetail deer activity in the area where we hunt every year.

I spent about an hour following the usual buck trails that we hunt year after year on the state land we have access to. We will be putting the stands our very soon so that the deer have time to get used them being there. That way by the time the season opens on October 1st, the deer are spooked by the stands being in the woods where they walk and spend their time.

I found a couple of small rubs in and around the usual places but nothing that would get my blood boiling at this time. It is very early in the season yet even for rubs so that doesn't really surprise me at the moment. Many of the larger rubs that we find in our area are down in the swamp and between mosquitoes and mud, I'm in no hurry to go bothering the deer near their bedding areas at the moment if I don't need to. Can't wait till we get the tree stands placed!
