Cable or Satellite for TV?

This question will go down as the proverbial argument of the century I'm sure. Many of us have sat on the middle of the fence of this topic for years. There are excellent reasons why I have cable and there are excellent reasons why I have had satellite service as well. Here are some of my thoughts on the pros and cons of each.

Satellite Television -
Pros
-Available pretty much any where unless you live at the bottom of a valley with mountains to you general south.
-Picture quality of digital satellite TV is fantastic
-Very competitive pricing for channel packages received
-Service is adequate in most cases
Cons
-Signal fade when it rains or snows hard, or if cloud cover is especially thick
-some providers require a "term commitment
-some providers require you purchase your equipment which could become outdated quickly, including your dish
-Internet service typically not available or very expensive (not competitive.

Cable Television
Pros
-Digital cable where available has "good" quality picture and sound
-Local network channels always available
-No fade issues with inclement weather
-Many companies offer "bundled" services for TV, internet (high speed), and even phone now.
-Very price competitive for packages offered.
-Service is adequate in most cases
Cons
-not always available every where (especially rural areas)
-little or no competition (usually monopolizes an area) to bring pricing down
-Often not as many channel choices as satellite

All in all, it really depends on your area what you will need or decide to do. Where you live may dictate that you go with Satellite, where as where I live I go with cable because of the availability of high speed internet. It's a game of choices. I have had both and I can say that I liked/dis-liked both services so you need to decide what is best for you.
