College tuition and your kids - real life finances

If you have children, you always want what's best for them. You plan and save and do everything you can to try and provide the best opportunites for your children. Then "life happens". You unexpectedly loose your job due to down sizing or any of the many other reasons life changes directions on you when you least expect it.

I've heard many say this would never happen to me and I was one of them but guess what? Every now and then "life happens" to all of us. The nest egg that was being put away for the kids has to be tapped into in order to help the family cope and even to avoid losing homes, cars, and other necessities in life to survive and keep them fed and clothed. Do you feel a bit guilty? Yup...but should you? Nope.

We tried our best to provide for our children over their growing up years. We ended up not being able to provide everything we wanted to for them but they all turned out really great and have successful careers, except for my youngest who is still in college studying to be in the medical field. We often get hung up on "stuff" for our children. All you need to make sure they have is this. A place to live, food to eat, good moral values, and all the love you can give them. Promote them to always get good grades and stay in school no matter what, because there are many other financing options for them if they still want to go to college.

It can be done and they can be successful. Don't let "life happening" take away the real dreams and help them be succesful no matter what. They are lots of scholarship and loan options available today to our children and they just need to be researched and found. Give them what they need to be successful and the rest will take care of itself.
