Save your memories before it's too late

Do you have home movies or video tape that holds all of those precious memories you have? We did and still do. Last year we found and collected a number of old 8mm and super 8mm movies that our parents had tucked away in the attic somewhere. We did this as Christmas presents for the family last year and let me tell you, it was none too soon. As we watched and taped some of the films, many of them disintegrated before our eyes from age! They were very brittle and not in good condition anymore. But, they were saved digitally for ever before that happened.

We had gone out on eBay to find a projector to play these films, as no one had a working projector that we could use. Once we did that, we started filming with video tape, the movies we wanted to put on DVD. We kept the projected screen size to about 6 inches max to make sure it was a very picture for recording. There are more expensive ways to do this, but it worked just fine. Once on video, I transferred the video to DVD through my computer and a video capture card, burned them to DVD and they are now forever saved digitally!

I went perusing through our video tape from years ago (back to 1990) and decided to get those saved on DVD as well. I could also do this on the computer but the cost of a DVD recorder has gone so low, it was easier to buy one for this task. I found a combo VRC and DVD recorder for less than $100 at Walmart on black Friday, and have already started transferring those tapes before they are lost forever.

Don't wait too long to save your memories, you could be sorry!
